The Farm
We rebuilt our stables in February 1996. In 2000 we expanded them again by two boxes. Our two foaling boxes measure 4 x 5.3 m and all of the others a good 4 x 4 m.
Our boxes are scattered with sawdust, which is the best option to keep the feathering beautifully clean and the horses always stand in the dry. Only when they’re giving birth and for a week after do the mares stand on straw.
Facing West, the boxes have two sides, which can be completely sealed, so that the horses are protected from draughts. The food storage is located in the centre of the stalls, so it is out of the direct sunlight, and the storage room stays dark and cool.
All of the boxes have large window areas, guaranteeing the influence of daylight on the horses’ metabolism and wellbeing. Old bulletproof glass from banks mean the windows are extremely secure. Heated water pipes ensure the water supply, even in the depths of winter.
